Celebrate Easter tiki style with the Easter Island Cocktail🍹🌺

Easter Island (Rapa Nui) is a remote Polynesian island off the coast of Chile. It was annexed by Chile in 1888 but was originally settled around 1200 AD by Polynesians who built a complex society with hierarchies and carving traditions. Known for its 900+ massive statues (Moai) the society flourished before enduring massive deforestation that caused an environmental collapse disrupting the civilization. European explorers visited the island in 1722 and found a population of between 2000 - 3000. Slave raids by Peru in 1862 as well as smallpox epidemics further reduced the population to just 111 by 1877. Today, most tourists visit the island to see the giant mysterious Moai statues scattered across the island with some as tall as 30 feet. Over time, most had fallen over but were erected and placed on a platform with their backs to the sea, while others had the ability to “walk” and be moved around the island due to their angular bottoms. Easter Island was a part of the 1950’s-60’s American tiki culture led by Donn Beach who created cocktails named after island spirits.

I’ve teamed up with @teamcraftedpour and @bgreynolds and am using their Xtabay bitters for this cocktail. Thank you BG Reynolds for this amazing product. Xtabay bitters are part of their new tiki bitters line which features the concept of just 3 dashes will do. Sour cherry and sweet absinthe and a spice blend of cardamon, clove and cinnamon will bring a new depth to all your tiki cocktails. Cheers!

Here’s how to make this delicious island cocktail:

Ingredients-Serves 1

🌺1/2 cup Frozen Mango
🌺1/2 cup Frozen Pineapple
🌺1 oz Rum
🌺.5 oz Banana Liqueur
🌺.5 oz Amaretto
🌺1 oz Orange Juice
🌺1 oz Grapefruit Juice
🌺1 oz Orgeat
🌺1 oz Cream of Coconut
🌺.25 oz Lime Juice
🌺3-4 dashes Xtabay Bitters
🌺Fresh Mango, Pineapple and Maraschino Cherry for garnish

Method

🍹Add all ingredients to a blender.
🍹Blend until smooth and pour into a margarita or hurricane glass.
🍹Garnish with the fresh mango, cherry and pineapple pick, pineapple fronds and umbrella straw.

Spring is here, love is in the air and I once again have more grapefruits than I know what to do with😂 I thought I would put them to good use and make some Palomas, but not just any Palomas, it’s a cocktail & mocktail duo🎉

The Paloma (which means dove in Spanish) is a popular cocktail that originated in Mexico and traditionally consisted of tequila, lime juice and Squirt or Jarritos grapefruit soda. Although its exact origins are unclear, it’s believed to have been created sometime in the mid 20th century. Over the years, bartenders opted for fresh grapefruit juice, sparkling water and agave syrup instead of the flavored soda although I actually recommend using the soda for the mocktail.

I’ve teamed up with @swoltequila and am using their fabulous tequila for this cocktail. Swoll is a premium tequila made from high-grade Blue Weber Agave cultivated in rich volcanic soil in Mexico. It is aged 13 1/2 months in American oak barrels developing notes of vanilla, toasted nuts and warm spice. Salud!

Here’s how to make these refreshing springtime libations:

Ingredients-serves 1

For the cocktail

🌷2 oz Tequila @swoltequila
🌷3 oz Grapefruit Juice (fresh squeezed if possible)
🌷.5 oz Lime Juice
🌷.5 oz Agave Syrup @oorganics
🌷Club Soda to top @schweppes

For the mocktail

🌼3 oz Grapefruit Juice
🌼.5 oz Lime Juice
🌼1 oz Agave Syrup
🌼Club, Squirt or Jarritos Grapefruit Soda to top

Method

🍋‍🟩Run a lime around both margarita glasses and roll in cocktail sugar.
🍋‍🟩Add the tequila (cocktail only), grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave syrup to cocktail shakers with ice.
🍋‍🟩Shake to combine and strain into ice filled, sugar rimmed margarita glasses.
🍋‍🟩Add the Club, Squirt or Jarritos soda to top. @jarritos
🍋‍🟩Garnish with a grapefruit wedge. Cheers!

Find your pot of gold over the rainbow this St. Patrick’s Day with the Black Gold Irish Martini 🌈🍸And did I happen to mention that I recently started watching flair bartending tutorials and am teaching myself how to flair? Still working on the thumb roll (don’t judge😂).

I’ve teamed up with @teamcraftedpour and @blacktwisthc from Ireland and am using their Irish Coffee Liqueur for this mischievous Irish Espresso Martini. Thank you to Black Twist for this magical bottle of deliciousness. Black Twist uses only the finest Arabica coffee beans for this liqueur which is cold brewed in triple distilled Irish whiskey inside oak casks which gives it a smooth flavor of vanilla and dark chocolate. Slàinte!💚

Here’s how to make this magical golden coffee cocktail:

Black Gold Irish Martini

Ingredients - Serves 1

🍀1.5 oz Irish Whiskey
🍀1 oz Irish Coffee Liqueur @blacktwisthc
🍀1 oz Espresso
🍀.5 oz Guinness Syrup (1 bottle or can Guinness Draught and 1.5 cups Demerara sugar)
🍀1/8 tsp Gold Brew Glitter @brew_glitter
🍀Green cocktail rimming sugar @brew_glitter
🍀1/2 lemon for rim
🍀3 coffee beans for garnish

Method

🌈Add the Irish whiskey, Irish Coffee Liqueur, Espresso. Guinness syrup and gold brew glitter to a cocktail shaker with ice.
🌈Shake to combine and strain into a green sugar rimmed martini glass.
🌈Garnish with 3 coffee beans.

Fun fact: I’m actually part Welsh not Irish but in the Celtic family and according to my mother it’s where I get my dark blue eyes. Lechyd da! (Cheers in Welsh)

Happy Valentine’s Day🌺

Add a sophisticated touch to your Valentine’s Day with this Banana Berry Champagne Daiquiri. The Daiquiri, which originated in 1898 in Cuba, is a classic tropical cocktail consisting of Cuban rum, lime and sugar. The Banana Daiquiri was later created in 1953 at St. Thomas Mountaintop bar in the US Virgin Islands by British sea captain George Soule and gained popularity in the 1950’s -70’s by Harry Yee in Hawaii. It was usually frozen and blended and later evolved into fruity and sparkling festive versions with a tropical base.

I’ve teamed up with @teamcraftedpour @worldwide_libations and @thebittertruthcompany and am using their Tiki Lovers Banana Rum for this cocktail. Thank you @thebittertruthcompany for this bottle of exceptional rum. Made from premium Caribbean rums from Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad with natural banana extracts, this rum perfectly balances the depth and warmth of the dark rum with the fruity essence of sun ripened bananas. Here’s how to make this bananaberrylicious cocktail:

Ingredients-Serves 1

❤️1.5 oz Banana Rum @tikiloversrum
❤️.75 oz Strawberry Syrup (2:1)
❤️.5 oz Lime Juice
❤️2 cups Strawberries (8 fresh or frozen)
❤️Champagne to top
❤️Strawberry Heart for garnish

Method

🍹Add 2 quartered strawberries to a cocktail shaker with no ice. Muddle.
🍹Add the @tikiloversrum Banana Rum, strawberry syrup, lime juice and ice to the shaker. Shake to combine.
🍹Add the red glitter ice rose (full instructions on my website, link in bio) to a chilled coupe glass.
🍹Strain the cocktail over the ice rose and add the champagne to top.
🍹Garnish with a heart shaped strawberry on a cocktail pick. Cheers!

Sail the seven seas with the Magellan Blue Martini!🩵🍸As part of my 2 part series with @magellangin_usa, this Blue Martini is made exclusively with Magellan Gin (the original blue gin). Typically, a blue martini is made with Blue Curacao but with Magellan Gin, which gets its blue color naturally from iris flower and root, no Blue Curacao is required. Crafted in France, Magellan Gin is inspired by the great explorer, Ferdinand de Magellan, who sailed across the globe 500 years ago in search of a better route to bring Eastern spices (especially clove) to European palates. This gin features 11 botanicals, many of which Magellan discovered, including coriander, clove, nutmeg and a hint of herbaceous juniper.

Here’s how to make this classic Blue Gin Martini:

Ingredients-Serves 1

🩵2 oz Gin @magellangin_usa
🩵1 oz Dry Vermouth
🩵2 dashes Orange Bitters
🩵Lemon twist for garnish

Method

🍸Add the Magellan Gin, Dry Vermouth and Orange Bitters to a mixing glass with ice.
🍸Stir with a mixing spoon at least 30 seconds to slightly dilute.
🍸Strain into a chilled martini glass @sister.lydrinkware
🍸Express the lemon twist over the cocktail, run around the edge and drop into the cocktail for garnish. Cheers!

The Down Home Blues cocktail is a Fun Craft Cocktails original created especially for the fabulous @magellangin_usa. Crafted in France, this beautiful gin is infused with iris root and flower which naturally gives it its blue hue as well as the botanicals of coriander, cloves, nutmeg and a hint of juniper. The Down Home Blues cocktail is similar to a Bramble which features gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and blackberry liqueur. I’ve substituted the blackberry liqueur with Blackberry Manischewitz. Why? because if you listen to the full Down Home Blues song, she says she spent her last dime on a bottle of Manischewitz😂If you get a chance, download and listen to the full song, it’s sassy and super fun to dance to! I mastered the infamous Flaming Orange Peel!!🎉😂

In honor of dry January, I bring to you the CosMOCKpolitan mocktail (see what I did there lol?). It is a nonalcoholic take on the Cosmopolitan cocktail which became very popular in the 1990’s. There are many disputed claims as to who or where the original Cosmopolitan cocktail was created but it appears to have started in the 1970’s gay community when cranberry juice was added to a Kamikaze and the bartender exclaimed “How Cosmopolitan!”😂It became very popular in the 1990’s when Madonna was seen sipping one at a bar and also the show “Sex and the City”which was the character Carrie Bradshaws favorite drink.

I’ve teamed up with @ripebarjuice and am using their Classic Cosmopolitan Mix for this mocktail. It is a delicious blend of agave nectar, cranberry, orange and lime juice and makes it so easy to make this mocktail, no squeezing required. I highly recommend Ripe Bar Juice but I wish I could say the same for the non alcoholic vodka used. To be honest, it is my first time really researching non alcoholic spirits and what I can tell you is there are a lot of bad reviews especially for the vodkas. I don’t know if the technology just isn’t there yet but it seems they all have a weird aftertaste. If someone could figure out how to make a good one they would make millions as I think the nonalcoholic spirit market is wide open and needed. Ok, enough of my rant. Here’s how to make this fun mocktail:

Ingredients-Serves 1

🍸2oz non alcoholic vodka
🍸4 oz Classic Cosmopolitan Mix @ripebarjuice
🍸Orange coin for flaming peel garnish
🍸Lime twist for garnish

Method

🩷Add the nonalcoholic vodka and Cosmopolitan mix to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to combine and strain into a beautiful martini glass @sister.lydrinkware.
🩷Flame the orange peel coin with a wooden match over the glass. Press the peel between your thumb and index finger to express the oils close to the match. You should see a light show🔥Run the peel around the edge of your glass and drop in.
🩷Garnish with a lime twist. Cheers!

The history of the Whiskey Sour begins pre 1800s, when British Naval Officer, Vice Admiral Edward Vernon mixed rum with water and lemon/lime juice to prevent scurvy for his crew. Sailors brought the concept to shore and combined other available spirits such as whiskey with citrus and sweetener. In 1862, the first Whiskey Sour appeared in Jerry Thomas’s The Bartender Guide and became very popular in America. Over the years different variations evolved including the use of egg white, which adds a frothy silky texture. Pro tip- Be sure to use the freshest eggs possible, check for cracks and wash the outside in a 10% vinegar solution since the possible bacteria is located on the outer shell not the inside. Cheers!🥃

This whiskey is a celebration of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897 which ensured authenticity and quality. Ingredients- Serves 1

❤️2 oz Whiskey @dentedbrickdistillery
❤️.75 oz Maple Syrup
❤️.75 oz Lemon Juice
❤️1 Egg White
❤️Thyme Sprig with lemon twist for garnish

Method

🥃Add the whiskey, maple syrup, lemon juice , egg white and shaker ball to a cocktail shaker @barflybymercer with no ice. Dry shake.
Add ice and shake again.

🥃Garnish with a long thyme sprig wrapped in lemon peel.

Ok, I think I need a cold shower now😂

The Hot Buttered Rum dates back to colonial times in America especially in the New England area where hot winter toddies were an Early American tradition. Many families had their own recipes utilizing ingredients that were abundant at the time (rum and butter) and it was a practical and luxurious way to keep warm in the cold winter months. It usually consisted of rum, butter, hot water or cider, a sweetener and various spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and clove) and was especially popular during the holiday season. It saw renewed interest in the 1940s Tiki Era where it was typically served in a ceramic skull and Trader Vic provided a Hot Buttered Rum Batter recipe in his Bartender’s Guide.

Here’s had to make this soul warming hot toddy:

Ingredients-Serves 1

🔥2 oz Hot Buttered Rum Mix @bgreynolds
🔥1 oz Dark Rum
🔥4 oz Hot Water (you can alternatively use hot apple cider)
🔥Whipped Cream to top
🔥Grated Nutmeg for garnish

Method

🔥Preheat your mug by filling with hot water. Let stand for a minute then dump the water.
🔥Add the Hot Buttered Rum Mixer @bgreynolds to your mug. Be sure to shake well prior.
🔥Add the Dark Rum.
🔥Add the hot water (or cider) and stir thoroughly with a mixing spoon.
🔥Add whipped cream to top and grate fresh nutmeg over the whipped cream.

I’ve teamed up with @worldwide_libations , @teamcraftedpour and @thebittertruthcompany and am using their Tiki Lovers Banana Rum for this rumalicious tiki cocktail. Thank you Bitter Truth for this outstanding rum which is crafted from a blend of premium pot and column distilled rums from Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad. This delicious rum is infused with naturally sun ripened bananas and has the flavors of banana, caramelized sugar, molasses, vanilla and tropical fruit. Cheers!🍹

Here’s how to make this super fun and easy holiday cocktail:

🎄2 oz Tiki Lovers Banana Rum @thebittertruthcompany
🎄1.5 oz Tart Cherry Juice
🎄4 oz Coca Cola @cocacola
🎄Maraschino Cherry for garnish
🎄Rosemary for garnish

Method

🎅🏻Cut a thin piece of wire (about 7.5 inches) and bend into a U shape. Skewer a Maraschino cherry onto the wire and slide into the middle to create Rudolph’s nose. Bend each end of wire over the side of the glass and attach a piece of rosemary on the outer side of the wire. Secure with a small cocktail “clothespin” to create Rudolph’s antlers. Set aside.
🎅🏻Add the banana rum and tart cherry juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to combine and strain into an ice filled garnished hurricane glass. Add the Coca Cola to top.
🎅🏻Stir gently and add a straw.🍹🥂

Is this reel like the Sugar Plum Fairy on acid or what?😂

The Sugar Plum Margarita is a modern, winter holiday version of the classic margarita with a glittery, plum infused twist. While there is not much history on this cocktail, it is believed to have been created and gained popularity in 2015 by home bartenders on social media. Being the mixologist that I am, I’ve tweaked the recipe a little and added plum liqueur in place of the orange liqueur, Concord grape juice for the purple hue and plum like flavor, cinnamon syrup for winter spice and sugared cranberries to represent sugar plums. A dusting of fairy dust aka brew glitter completes this magical Christmas cocktail.🎄

I’ve teamed up with @swoltequila and am using their fabulous Añejo (aged in Spanish)Tequila. SWOL meaning “savor without limits”tequila is a limited release 100% agave tequila made in Mexico. It is made using traditional and modern techniques and is based with the concept of happiness, love, laughter and friendship. How awesome right? It is aged in oak barrels and has the complex flavors of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak. Cheers!

Here’s how to make this glittery, enchanting Christmas cocktail:

Ingredients-Serves 1

💜2 oz Añejo Tequila @swoltequila
💜1 oz Ume Plum Liqueur @hakutsuru.sake.usa
💜2 oz Concord Grape Juice @welchesofficial
💜.5 oz Lime Juice
💜.5 oz Cinnamon Syrup (1:1 with 2 cinnamon sticks infused)
💜1/8 tsp Clear Brew Glitter @brew_glitter
💜Clear Cocktail Sugar for rim @snowyrivercocktails

Method

🎄Rim your margarita glass with lime and cocktail sugar. Set aside.
🎄Add the tequila, plum liqueur, grape juice, lime juice, cinnamon simple syrup and brew glitter to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to combine and strain into the rimmed, ice filled margarita glass.
🎄Garnish with a cinnamon stick and the sugared cranberry garnish pick.

This holiday version features the traditional flavors of gingerbread (brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and vanilla) with the wonderful aromatic flavor of coffee☕️

This liqueur is crafted using the finest Brazilian Arabica coffee beans that is cold brewed in triple distilled whiskey inside oak casks. Here’s how to make this holiday coffee cocktail:

Ingredients- Serves 1

☕️1.5 oz Vodka
☕️.75 oz Coffee Liqueur @blacktwisthc
☕️.5 oz Gingerbread Syrup (see recipe below)
☕️1 oz Espresso or Dark Roast Coffee
☕️Pinch Sea Salt
☕️Maple Syrup for rim
☕️Crushed gingerbread cookies for rim
☕️Cinnamon for garnish
☕️3 coffee beans for garnish

Gingerbread Syrup

🤎1/2 cup Brown Sugar
🤎1/2 cup filtered water
🤎2 Cinnamon Sticks
🤎1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
🤎1/8 oz Ground Cloves
🤎1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract

Method

🍸Add all gingerbread syrup ingredients except the vanilla to a small saucepan. Heat on medium and simmer 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add the vanilla extract. Stir and let cool.
🍸Add all cocktail ingredients to shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously to combine at least 30 seconds. You want to create a nice foam.
🍸Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass rimmed with maple syrup and gingerbread cookie crumbs.
🍸Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the top and garnish with 3 coffee beans.

Ding Dong! Aunt Roberta’s here for the holidays!😂 I could only fit 6 pains into the reel so the rest will be in my story, story highlights and/or note😂

The Aunt Roberta cocktail is known as the strongest cocktail in the world, consisting of 5 different spirits with no mixers! It was created in the 1800’s by an Alabaman woman only known as Aunt Roberta who fled an abusive home as a child, worked as a cotton picker and prostitute before getting into the moonshine business. She sold cocktails of gin and moonshine from a makeshift shack where she processed the alcohol herself. It is said she died at the young age of 32 in poverty, but it was one of her customers, Billy Joe Spragg, a racoon hunter, who brought the cocktail to a wider audience after introducing it to bars he opened and made millions off it.
Some say the backstory is a myth but whatever the case may be, it is definitely interesting. The original Aunt Roberta cocktail recipe consisted of (don’t try this at home 😂): 1 oz Brandy, 3 oz Vodka, 2 oz Absinthe, 1.5 oz Gin and 1 oz Blackberry Liqueur for a total of 8.5 oz of alcohol in ONE serving! I’ve kept the same ingredients but altered the ratios significantly for a more reasonable but delicious cocktail with the flavor of blackberry shining through. Cheers!

🍸.5 oz Vodka

🍸3 Luxardo Cherries for garnish

Method

🎄Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice.
🎄Shake to combine (30 seconds).
🎄Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
🎄Garnish with 3 Luxardo cherries on a cocktail pick. Cheers!🎉

Welcome to King Louie’s Thanksgiving feast where all the bananas you can eat are served😂🦧

Do you remember King Louie from The Jungle Book? You know, the orangutan that was obsessed with becoming human and man’s red flower (fire). This delicious tiki dessert cocktail is a tribute to this fun-loving monkey and is so easy to make. While there are other versions out there, this rum based version doesn’t monkey around with the tropical flavors of rum, banana and chocolate.

I’ve teamed up with @teamcraftedpour and @denizenrum and am using their white rum for this cocktail. Thank you @denizenrum for this stellar bottle of rum. This award-winning rum is aged 5 years and has the flavors of toasted coconut, mango, pineapple with a hint of vanilla. Cheers!🍹

Ingredients-Serves 1

🦧1 oz White Rum @denizenrum
🦧1 oz Banana Liqueur
🦧1 oz Chocolate Liqueur
🦧Banana slice for garnish
🦧Plastic monkey for garnish

Method

🦍Add the rum, banana liqueur and chocolate liqueur to a cocktail shaker with ice.
🦍Shake to combine and strain into a coupe glass.
🦍Garnish with a banana slice (cut a slit at the bottom) and slide on the edge of your glass.

Add a little magic to your Halloween with this Harry Potter inspired color changing cocktail🍸If you’ve seen the Harry Potter movies, you know the Polyjuice Potion was used to temporarily change into another human with the effects lasting anywhere between 10 minutes to 12 hours. Changing into another species (animal) is not recommended however as there can be some side effects when changing back😂The potion required a body part of the person you want to change into such as hair, toenail clippings etc. This bewitching potion is not nearly as gross as in the movie though I promise😂

I’ve teamed up with @teamcraftedpour and @dinglegin and am using their incredible gin for this cocktail. This gin is crafted in small batches in County Kerry, Ireland and is produced using a classic London dry technique. What makes Dingle special is its use of native Irish botanicals such as rowen berry, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn and heather. After distillation, the spirit is cut with water sourced from a well deep beneath the distillery.🎉

Here’s how to make this magical cocktail:

Ingredients - Serves 1

💜1 oz Gin @dinglegin
💜.5 oz Elderflower Liqueur @stgermaindrinks
💜4 oz Club Soda @schweppes
💜1/4 tsp Butterfly Pea Powder
💜.5 oz Lemon Juice
💜.5 oz Simple Syrup

Method

🎃Add the club soda to a mixing glass or measuring cup. Add the butterfly pea powder and whisk until well blended. It will foam a little.
🎃Add the gin, elderflower liqueur and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to combine.
🎃Add the butterfly pea powder mixture to the shaker and gently stir.
🎃Strain into an ice filled Halloween glass. Add the lemon juice and gently stir. It will magically change colors. Cheers!

Note-You can also add dry ice in place of the ice cubes (add after the lemon juice). Be careful not to touch it and always wait until it is completely evaporated before drinking.

Come to life this Halloween with the Frankenstein cocktail🧌It’s electrifying!
While the history of this cocktail is murky, it most likely started as a Halloween themed drink and there are many different versions. This “Franken-drink” version combines sour apple, lemon lime soda and a hint of absinthe for sweet and sour treat.
I’ve teamed up with @platinummedia.agency and @absinthe_absente and am using their high quality absinthe for this cocktail. Absente absinthe is formulated in France and is a modern version of the traditional absinthe recipe which was so popular with the artists (Van Gough) and writers in Paris, France in the late 19th and early 20th century. This aromatic emerald green spirit is formulated with the traditional botanical extracts of wormwood, anise and mint.

Here’s how to make this electrifying cocktail:

🧟‍♂️1.5 oz vodka @absolutvodka
🧟‍♂️1 oz Sour Apple Pucker Liqueur @dekuypercocktails
🧟‍♂️2 drops Absinthe @absinthe_absente
🧟‍♂️1 drop “Essence of Frankenstein” aka green food coloring (optional)
🧟‍♂️Lemon Lime soda to top @sprite

Method

🎃Prepare your glass by layering the GloCubes @glocubes and ice.
🎃Add the Vodka, Sour Apple Pucker, Absinthe and Essence of Frankenstein to a cocktail shaker with ice.
🎃Shake to combine (30 seconds) and strain into the ice filled glass.
🎃Add lemon lime soda (sprite) to top and gently stir.

Method

👹Add the Tequila and Agave Margarita Fresh Lime Sour Juice to a cocktail shaker with ice.

👹Slowly pour the red wine over a bar spoon to create the red wine float on top. 👹Cut 2 similar sized red Thai chili peppers in half. Cut a small slit on the bottom of each pepper and slide them onto the sides of your glass to create the evil devil horns.😈
