Sex on the Beach

The Sex on the Beach cocktail was created in the 1980s during which fruity, suggestive cocktails were all the rage. It is said to have been created by a bartender named Ted Pizio who was working at a bar called Confetti’s in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Peach Schnapps was a fairly new liqueur at the time and bartenders were encouraged to come up with a cocktail to promote it. Ted Pizio came up with the idea “Sex on The Beach” to reflect the two main draws for tourists’ “sex” and the “beach” during spring break. The cocktails popularity quickly spread throughout the U.S and even internationally and eventually became one of the most iconic cocktails of the ’80s. I’ve teamed up with Dingle from Ireland and am using their vodka for this cocktail. This award winning, premium vodka is handmade in small batches in West Ireland and quadruple distilled with pure grain spirit. It is then distilled a fifth time in their copper pot still for an extra smooth taste. Cheers!
