The Martian Blood cocktail is a fun and easy cocktail for you to mix up and enjoy this Halloween. This strange and eerie cocktail combines Vodka, Midori, lime juice, lemon juice and simple syrup. The vibrant green color makes it look radioactive, and it tastes out of this world! There is no history on this cocktail since it’s an original Fun Craft Cocktail creation but here are a few fun facts about Martians. The word Martian was first used in 1880. Martians are from Mars. Martians are also referred to as the little green man from Mars. Martians supposedly can live up to 300 human years. On October 30, 1938, Orson Welles presented a Halloween broadcast called War of the Worlds adapted from the 1898 H. G Wells novel. It was done like a news broadcast about a Martian invasion taking over the world. It was so convincing some people thought it was real and panicked. Enjoy!

Jigger
Knife
Cutting Board
Crooked stem Martini Glass
Ingredients – Serves 1
1 oz Vodka
3/4 oz Midori (melon liqueur)
1/2 oz Lime Juice (fresh squeezed)
1/4 oz Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed)
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Lime curl for garnish
Method
- Make the simple syrup first if you don’t have any on hand. In a small saucepan, boil 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Stir and let cool. Store extra simple syrup in the fridge for later use.
- Prepare your garnish. Cut a 1/4-inch lime wheel from the center of the lime. Cut a slit on one side and stretch open. Peel away the pulp leaving a little pith. Wrap around a straw and slide off. Set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine all ingredients and shake well to chill (30 seconds).
- Pour into a crooked stem martini glass and garnish with the lime curl. You can add dry ice if desired for an extra “scary” effect, just remember to allow the dry ice to completely evaporate before drinking (It is a gas that will leave your drink once dissolved). Also, remember to never touch dry ice, allows use tongs. Cheers!
