The Fuzzy Navel is a popular cocktail from the 1980’s and has got to be one of the easiest cocktails ever to make. It consists of only 2 ingredients, Peach Schnapps and orange juice. It derives its name Fuzzy, which refers to peach fuzz and Navel, referring to the orange. Although, I guess you can imagine an edgier reference. It was originally created by New Jersey bartender Ray Foley, author of “Bartending for Dummies” in 1984, when super sweet fruity drinks were all the rage. It is also said to have been a marketing ploy by DeKuyper to promote it’s Peach Schnapps. It is made using equal parts Schnapps and orange juice in a highball glass. Enjoy!
Equipment
Cocktail Shaker
Jigger
Collins glass
Straw
Ingredients – Serves 1
For the Cocktail
3 oz Peach Schnapps
3 oz Orange Juice
Ice
For the Garnish
Orange Wheel or Slice
Mint Sprig
Directions
- Start by preparing your garnish. Rinse and dry a mint sprig, set aside.
- Cut an orange wheel, then cut in half again if desired. Cut a slit in the bottom of the orange wheel or slice to sit on the glass.
- Fill a collins glass with ice.
- In a cocktail shaker with ice, add Peach Schnapps and orange juice. Shake to combine until well chilled. You can alternatively just mix it in the glass, but I find it mixes better and is easier using the shaker.
- Strain into the collins glass and garnish with the orange wheel/slice and mint sprig. Add a straw. Cheers!
