Sail the seven seas with the Magellan Blue Martini! Made exclusively with Magellan Gin, this classic gin martini gets its blue color naturally with iris flower and root which is infused into this beautiful gin. Typically, the Blue Martini or Blutini is made with Blue Curacao for the blue color, but with Magellan Gin you can make a classic Blue Gin Martini with no Blue Curacao required! Magellan Gin is crafted in France and was inspired by the great explorer Ferdinand de Magellan, who sailed across the globe 500 years ago in search of a better route to bring Eastern spices, especially clove, to European palates. This gin also features 11 botanicals, many of which Magellan discovered, including coriander, cloves nutmeg with a hint of herbaceous juniper. Cheers!
Equipment
- Mixing Glass
- Jigger
- Martini Glass
- Mixing Spoon
- Cocktail Strainer
- U-shaped vegetable peeler or paring knife
- Cutting Board
Ingredients – Serves 1
- 2 oz Magellan Gin
- 1 oz Dry Vermouth
- 2 dashes Orange Bitters
- Lemon twist for garnish
Method
- Prep your martini glasses. Place your martini glasses in the freezer to chill.
- Prep your garnish. Wash and dry a lemon (preferably a smooth one with small pores). Using a U-shaped vegetable peeler or paring knife, cut a 2-inch-wide diagonal slice of peel (try not to get too much rind) from top to bottom. Lay flat on a cutting board and clean up the ends (cut diagonal) and edges. Set aside.
- Make the cocktail. Add the Magellan Gin, Dry Vermouth and Orange Bitters to a mixing glass with ice. Stir with a mixing spoon for at least 30 seconds to blend and dilute a little with the ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish. Squeeze the lemon peel over cocktail (rind facing away from you) to express the oils. Run the peel side around the edge of your glass. Twist and place in your cocktail. Cheers!
