Fall is here and that means it’s Pumpkin Spice time! The White Russian was born in the 1960’s when cream was added to the Black Russian (a mixture of vodka and Kahlua). This delicious seasonal version is perfect for holiday gatherings or just enjoyed on a beautiful fall evening. Cheers!
Ingredients-Serves 1
For Rimming the Glass
2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
1 Graham Cracker
2 tsp Sugar
2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
For the Cocktail
1 1/2 oz Vodka
1 oz Kahlua
2 oz Half and Half
2 Tbsp Pumpkin Puree
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
Whipped Cream
Cinnamon Stick
Directions
- Start by preparing the simple syrup. Add 1/2 cup sugar to 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool. You can store any extra simple syrup in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
- While simple syrup is cooling, rim the rocks glass. Put 1 graham cracker in a small baggie and break up into crumbs. Pour the graham cracker on a small plate and mix the sugar and pumpkin pie spice into it. Spoon the maple syrup onto a small plate and roll or brush the edge of the glass with the syrup. Roll the outer edge of the glass in the sugar mixture. Shake or brush off any excess. Fill the rimmed rocks glass with ice and set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker with 1 cup ice, add the vodka, Kahlua, half and half, pumpkin puree, simple syrup, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Shake well to thoroughly mix the ingredients and strain into the rocks glass over ice.
- Top with whipped cream and sprinkle a small amount of pumpkin pie spice over the whipped cream. Add a cinnamon stick and enjoy!
