Candy Corn is one of the oldest Halloween candies still produced today. This tri-color treat was invented in 1880 by George Renninger, a candymaker at the Wunderle Candy Company. It was originally called Chicken Feed and sold in bulk cardboard boxes because corn was mostly seen as animal feed at the time. Goelitz Candy Company (now known as Jelly Belly Candy Company) began mass producing it in 1898. It was originally sold as an affordable penny candy before morphing into an October/Halloween staple via mid-20th-century marketing.
I’ve teamed up with my friends at Soda Jerk to bring you the Candy Corn Shot. Whether you think candy corn is a seasonal masterpiece or Halloween’s most awkward candy, this liquid version is a crowd-pleaser everyone can agree on. The Soda Jerk Orange Cream Shot gives it that nostalgic, juicy, citrusy pop that makes this whole drink come alive! 🍊✨
Here is the exact recipe to recreate it at home:
- The Rim: Simple Syrup and bright Yellow Sugar
- The Middle Layer: .75 oz Soda Jerk Orange Cream Shot (completely chilled!)
- The Bottom Layer: .75 oz RumChata (completely chilled!)
(Pro-tip: Keeping the liquids ice-cold is the secret to getting those clean, picture-perfect layers!)
Method
- Dip your shot glass in simple syrup, then press/roll into the yellow sugar.
- Pour the Rum Chata into the shot glass.
- Slowly pour the Soda Jerk Orange Cream over the back of a mixing spoon to create the 2 layers.
- Cheers!
Get ready to toast to spooky season! 🥂🎃
