Spicy Mango-Rita

Get the party started this Cinco de Mayo (or anytime) with a Spicy Mango-Rita! This delicious margarita is bursting with sweet mango flavor and just a little bit of heat. I’m using the Fiero Serrano Tequila for this recipe, and it does not disappoint. Naturally infused with fresh, vine ripened serrano peppers from local Jalisco farmer’s markets, this tequila gives the perfect amount of spicy. Salud!

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Margarita Glass
  • Small Plate
  • Jigger
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Ice Scoop

Ingredients – Serves 1

  • 2 oz Fiero Serrano Tequila
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • .5 oz Lime Juice
  • .5 oz Agave Syrup (light)
  • 1 Fresh Mango or 1 cup Frozen
  • Tajin for Rim
  • Lime wheel for Garnish

Method

  1. Prepare your glass. Add some Tajin to a small plate. Cut a lime in half. Run 1/2 around the rim of your glass and then up and down the front of one side. Roll the glass in the Tajin to create a design down the front. Set aside.
  2. Cut the mango. Wash and dry a mango (make sure it’s ripe). Cut the mango in half lengthwise close to the seed on both sides. Score the mango half 3x up and down, bend the mango peel down and pull off the chunks. Repeat on the other side. You can also use 1 cup frozen chunks.
  3. Make the Cocktail. Put the mango pieces into the blender and add the Fiero Serrano Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and agave syrup and 2 scoops of ice. Blend on puree for at least 30 seconds while playing the maracas:).
  4. Garnish. Pour into the Tajin rimmed margarita glass and garnish with a lime wheel. Salud!
